L'Aquila is the capital of the state of Abruzzi in Italy. It is 58 miles from Rome (east). One hour by bus (8 Euros each way). It is also about one hour away by bus to Pescara (east), another beautiful city on the Adriatic Sea.
My family's town is located in the center of Italy. It is about three hours south of Florence and about three hours north of Naples. My grandparents and father built these two magnificent homes. My father built his in the center of town. My grandparents built their beautiful villa just outside of town (10 minutes by car). For my father's house, no car is required. The bus station is in walking distance. The house is in the center of town by the main square for food, shopping and everything else you might desire.
At the farmhouse you will need a car or taxi for food shopping and going to the center of town. The farmhouse also has magnificent views of the Alpine Mountains and the Gran Sasso, the highest mountain in that mountain range. During World War II, Mussolini was held prisoner at the top of Gran Sasso. He was rescued by the Germans in a daring assault of the fortress, and was flown to safety. You can take a beautiful tram ride to the top or drive by car to the top during the summer months. During the winter it offers wonderful skiiing. There are also other ski resorts nearby.
My father's house offers 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, an eat-in kitchen with a fireplace for cooking (barbeque). There is also a beautiful living room and dining room with a fireplace and a bar. This house can sleep six comfortably. For more information and prices click here to contact me.
